Step Inside The Breathtaking Abandoned Oak Alley Plantation House Forgotten for Decades Down South

This breathtaking federal Palladian plantation house was built around 1823. It features some of the most ornate stunning architectural designs I have ever seen. The house was built as a wedding gift when a wealthy planter married his first cousin. Unfortunately the husband passed away not long after the marriage and his wife inherited the property. In 1828 she remarried a doctor and they had one son together. Tragedy seemed to follow this house as her second husband passed away by 1831 and there only child passed away a year later in 1832. The widow would sell the house in 1833 and for the next century the house would pass through multiple owners. Until finally being forgotten in the 21st century, brings to mind a quote from Henry David Thoreau “One generation abandons the enterprises of another like stranded vessels.” Truly one of the most beautiful historic old houses I’ve ever documented. Really hope and pray this old house will be saved and restored, the architecture and history is just fascinating. So glad I could save this old place in pictures and video. One of my favorites I’ve ever seen, too many beautiful details to list inside and mostly left intact and spared from remodeling. My apologies if the video is a little rough it’s a couple years old.
