Lifters & Bushings with John Callies (2023 – Episode 56)
For episode 56 we head back to “professor” John Callies’ shop for a lesson on lifters and bushings. John breaks down how lifters play into the quest for more horsepower and why they used to fail so often. He also shows us the difference between needle and bushing bearings, why bushings give better load distribution and bearing capacity, and secret behind keyed lifters. Finally, John provides us with look at the technology that goes into creating a lifter that makes an “oil wedge” that provides better oil distribution for the lifter whether it’s for racing and/or street applications.
