Nathan Cassidy COMEDY, ART vs AI & the DEATH RATTLE

What makes someone dedicate their life to stand-up comedy? What happens when laughter meets our deepest fears? In this fascinating conversation, I sit down with award-winning comedian Nathan Cassidy for one of the most open, funny and thought-provoking interviews we've ever recorded. Nathan talks about the creative journey behind his acclaimed one-man shows, including his latest production, From the Ashes, which inspired a recent photoshoot with me. Rather than using AI-generated artwork, Nathan chose to commission and support a real artist for his promotional poster—a decision that sparks an interesting discussion about creativity, authenticity and the future of art. We also explore: The stories behind his one-man shows. Why supporting artists still matters in an AI world. His son performing at the Royal Albert Hall. The photoshoot we created together with his band. His best and worst gigs. What he really sees when he looks in the mirror. Growing up with an overwhelming fear of death—and how humour became a way of confronting it. Can death actually be funny? From the infamous "death rattle" to the absurdity of our own mortality, we somehow find plenty to laugh about. Our favourite photographs and why certain images stay with us forever. Nathan's favourite jokes and how he builds comedy. A deep dive into watches, where Nathan discovers his watch can do far more than he ever realised. Steve's watch of the day: the beautiful Vario 1918 Trench & Medic, an independent microbrand from Singapore. This is far more than a comedy interview. It's a conversation about creativity, family, photography, fear, mortality, craftsmanship and finding humour in the biggest questions we all face.
