Before heading back, Grandma and Grandpa stopped by Wat Sakla, a temple with a long history. History: The temple was built in 1782. It is believed that the villagers helped build it after defeating the Burmese in a war. Originally, the Sakla village community was an ancient community dating back to the early Ayutthaya period. During the Nine Armies War, King Rama I sent the men to be soldiers, leaving only women and the elderly. When the Burmese army marched through, the remaining villagers bravely fought against the Burmese and won. This village was then called Ban Sao Kla (Village of Brave Women), which later evolved into Ban Sakla as it is known today.
