Known as part of the so-called Plain of Jars, these megalithic monuments have had different interpretations over time, until recent excavations began to reveal their possible function. Inside a single vessel, the remains of at least 37 people who lived between the 9th and 12th centuries were found, in addition to ceramics, ornaments, and beads that helped reconstruct part of the history of this group. The discovery brought new evidence about ancient funerary practices and showed that these populations maintained much broader cultural and commercial connections than previously thought.
