John Muir Trail 2022 Nobo: Cottonwood Pass to Happy Isles

Last July, I hiked the John Muir Trail (Nüümü Poyo) northbound in 19 days, with a zero-day at VVR. From Horseshoe Meadows via Cottonwood Pass to Happy Isles in Yosemite Valley. A Scottish hiker in the Sierras! From a heatwave to the Oak Fire wildfire, I experienced the breathtaking beauty of these wild places. Get a feel for this iconic trail and see what it takes to complete this trail. Once on the trail, I camped when I could and never looked at my pre-trail plans. I went solo, my pack was 35-37lb with water, most gear was ultralight, and set out with 10 days of food in a BV500 bear canister.
