Game 1 of the 1971 World Series with Curt Gowdy, Chuck Thompson and includes Joe Garagiola and Sandy Koufax doing the pre game World Series Report . and roaming the stands is Tony Kubek. Starting Pitchers are Dock Ellis for Pittsburgh and Dave McNally for Baltimore. Dave McNally pitchers and outstanding opener to the Series, pitching a complete game giving up 3 runs on just 3 Pirate hits (2 hits from Roberto Clemente) striking out 9 while walking only 2. Hitting stars for the Orioles, Frank Robinson goes 2 for 4, hitting a solo HR in the 2nd inning off Ellis. after giving up a 2-run HR to Merv Rettenmund Ellis is replaced by Bob Moose.
