Reducing inequalities in cancer care across the European Union Despite improvements in cancer survival across Europe, inequalities persist along the cancer care continuum, both between and within countries. These disparities are shaped by socioeconomic status, geography and education, and health system factors also play an important role. The European Commission’s Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan supports Member States in addressing disparities at the European level. However, it also requires a comprehensive health system approach at the national and regional level. So what role do different health functions play in reducing inequalities in cancer care?
