The average yield is 10:1. This means that from 100 kg of frozen strawberries, we get approximately 10 kg of freeze-dried strawberries. The first stage of production is the procurement of raw materials: fruits and vegetables come primarily from Poland, with exotic varieties, of course, coming from abroad. They arrive at the plant in refrigerated trucks and are then stored in freezers at temperatures as low as -25 degrees Celsius. The Elena plant also has a second automatic packaging machine designed for small portions for the retail market. Freeze-drying a single batch takes from 12 to 40 hours, depending on the product loaded in the machine. Freeze-dried products are packaged manually in 10, 12, or 15 kilogram plastic bags or using a weighing machine. The weighing machine allows for the automation of the entire process. Dietary supplements are also made from freeze-dried products. Elena produces capsules containing collagen, bio-aronia, and celery, among other products. Freeze-dried products have an average shelf life of 12 months, but can usually be stored for many years. Thanks to technology that has returned to Earth from space!
