It’s a district lined with traditional kura storehouses, wooden merchant buildings, and the distinctive architectural style that reflects the city’s Edo period prosperity. Yamacho-suji is designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, and its streets offer a glimpse into Takaoka’s merchant past. Filmed just after the Takaoka Mikuruma yama Festival, this walk captures the peaceful atmosphere as the neighborhood returns to its everyday calm.
