Before moving on to the question of what to consider when buying a laptop for university and what kind of laptop Engineering students should prefer, let's talk about Processor and RAM. These are the first features that both students studying Civil Engineering and students studying in other engineering disciplines should check when buying a laptop. Sap2000, AutoCAD, Revit, 3ds Max, Sketchup and other 3D creation and visualisation programs are mostly used by Civil Engineers. The requirements of the programmes used for other engineering are more or less the same. So we will take it as a whole. So the laptops in this video are suitable for every engineering. First of all, the minimum computer specifications required for engineering; 13th generation Intel Core i5 h series processor or ryzen 6th generation h and hx series processor, and minimum 16 GB RAM. Another thing to consider is the storage. Even though they come at a higher price, solid state drives (SSD) allow your machine to boot quickly and run your software smoother and faster than a traditional HDD. You should choose a laptop with SSD or a solution that includes SSD for fast booting and HDD for additional storage. When you look at the system requirements of most CAD and 3D modelling programs, you will find that a dedicated graphics card will come in handy.
