Ever wondered what it's like being Black in Colombia? Andrew Macia asks co-host Joel Duncan about his experience being a black foreigner living in Medellin, Colombia. Joel has been living in Colombia for 9 years and has personally experienced the city's dramatic changes as a result of a tourism boom. In 2011, when Joel first got to the city, it was rare to see a black tourists walking down Medellin's popular street Calle 10. Fast forward a few years to 2020 (prior to the Coronavirus), seeing groups of black travelers was nothing out of the ordinary. Now in 2022 things are not only getting back to normal, but it's possible that there are even more black tourism in Colombia than before the pandemic started. So what's changed? Joel speaks about the acceptance of black people in Colombia, dating from a black man's perspective, racism in Colombia, and much more. Joel has travelled to many countries around the world and believes that this video is very important because black people are treated differently on a country to country basis.
