Using a Bud Box Design for Livestock Handling
Joanna visits with Morgan Hayes, Assistant Extension Professor with Biosystems and Ag Engineering to talk about cattle handling and the bud box design. Bud box is low costs system to build and are ideal if the cattle handling facility is being put on rented land or in an old tobacco barn. The system can be built by using panels and utilizing the natural movement of cattle. The design was created in the west for cowboys on horseback working cattle. However it is now modified for cattlemen on foot to be able to process smaller lots of cattle. Most cow-calf operations will need a box that is at least 12 feet wide and 20 feet deep.
