Oberländischer Kanal in Polen | Mit dem Schiff über Land und bergauf | Zeitreise

Ships sailing over mountains. Yes, there are. On the Oberland Kanal or (also called the Oberländische Kanal) in Poland. Ships climb a total of 100 meters on the canal between Elbing and Osterrode. They do not use locks for this, but are pulled up over 5 rolling mountains. The Oberland Canal is a technical masterpiece. The canal was built by German engineers in the mid-19th century. As part of the Time Travel series, this video from 2003 shows a boat trip on the canal.
