Habib begins by explaining the fundamental differences between the Chinese and Brazilian markets: average income, urban structure, consumer profile, and purchasing power parity. While China already has 350 million consumers with incomes similar to those in Europe, Brazil still operates in a market for compact and affordable vehicles. He points out the main strategic mistake of Chinese automakers when entering Brazil: focusing solely on SUVs and electric cars between R$160,000 and R$300,000—a range that represents only 25% of the Brazilian passenger car market. The result? Everyone is fighting for a small share, and no one makes any money. Habib also warns: electric cars in Brazil won't take off anytime soon. The charging infrastructure is economically unfeasible, the range doesn't meet Brazilian commuting standards, and the national energy matrix is already clean—there's no urgent need for fleet electrification. The only solution for the Chinese? Launch a "jabuticaba car"—like the HB20—adapted to the Brazilian market, with a 1.0-liter flex-fuel engine, compact and affordable.
