Is Actual Infinity Possible? | Graham Oppy, Ph. D.

Join us for a mind-bending conversation with Dr. Graham Oppy 🧠✨ as we dive deep into the mysteries of infinity ♾️ — from Hilbert’s Hotel 🏨🌀 to the Grim Reaper paradox ⚔️⏳, Thomson’s Lamp 💡⚡, Zeno 🏃‍♂️🐢, and many more puzzles that challenge our understanding of reality. Is an actual infinite possible in the real world? 🌌 Can the universe have an infinite past? 🕰️♾️ Do paradoxes prove that causal finitism is true? 🔗🚫 Or do they simply reveal how strange infinity really is? Serbia 🇷🇸 and Australia 🇦🇺 meet in one episode — because when the topic is infinite, distance means nothing! 😄🌍 If you would like to support our work financially, you can make a donation to the following account: Name: Nemanja Jurišić Account number: 9031032348608 Website of Dr. Rick Hess: https://oldtestamentquestions.com/ Follow us on Instagram & TikTok: @ntpodkast Contact us on e-mail: [email protected] Biography: Dr. Graham Oppy is a Professor of Philosophy and a member of the Australian Academy of Humanities. He has been working at Monash University for the past twenty-five years, teaching mostly philosophy of religion, metaphysics, and logic. His current courses include God, Freedom and Evil, Metaphysics, and Philosophy of Religion. Prior to his appointment at Monash, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Philosophy Program in the Research School for the Social Sciences at the Australian National University in Canberra. Before that, he was a Lecturer at the University of Wollongong (no, Bruce, not Woolloomooloo). He wrote his doctoral dissertation at Princeton University under the supervision of Gil Harman, focusing on questions in the philosophy of language. Before that, he was an undergraduate student at Melbourne University, where he completed two degrees: a BA with a major in philosophy and a B.Sc with a major in mathematics (and a minor in physics). Born in Benalla (pop. 8,000), his family moved to Ballarat (pop. 80,000) when he was six, and they were still living there when he began attending Melbourne University. Raised in a Methodist household, he ceased to be a religious believer in his early teenage years. His research interests span a wide range of questions about religion, and he has done extensive work on arguments concerning the existence of God. #infinity #infinite #universe #philosophy #paradox
