Mahahual, Mexico was a beach paradise for us! | Costa Maya

We finally took a dip in the blue waters of Mahahual and that beach sure beats Tulum and Cancun. It's perfect for snorkelling and seeing all kinds of aquatic wildlife, albeit the further South you go on the Mayan coast, the saltier the sea is. When you take a table at one of the beach restaurants in Mahahual, make sure to ask for a menu in pesos as the US dollar equivalent will literally cost you twice as much after the conversion. The large majority of the tourists in Mahahual come from cruise ships and the locals take advantage of this fact to charge "gringo" prices.
