UK-USA episode three - The Bombes and Bletchley Park
In February 1941, a group of Americans arrived at Bletchley Park, in what marked the beginnings of an extraordinary UK-USA intelligence alliance that continues to this day. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of this alliance, we've produced an exciting four-part documentary series exploring how this alliance began, and what led to it's remarkable success, with insights from historians and experts on both sides of the Atlantic. Episode three follows Bletchley Park's Research Historian, Dr David Kenyon, and National Security Agency (NSA) Senior Historian, David Hatch, as they explore the developing relationship the UK and USA shared, contrasting where it worked well and where challenges arose. Kenyon and Hatch delve into the successes and challenges this partnership faced, with the US's emerging Bombe programme and how the British Codebreakers influenced this. Additionally, Bletchley Park's Exhibitions Manager, Erica Munro and Museum Archivist, Dean Annison examine objects from the Bletchley Park collection that show the personal stories of UK and USA Codebreakers working together. If you want to be the first to watch episode four, you can register for our free virtual preview event on our website. UK-USA episode four - War and peace, will be shown for the first time at 13.00 on Tuesday 7 December 2021. https://bletchleypark.org.uk/event/uk...
