CRoWN Project Spotlight in Kano || BBC

At the heart of Kano, a recent documentary by the BBC Hausa Service spotlights the CRoWN women, recognising the credibility of a community-led model that is quietly transforming how care reaches mothers and children. Co-created by Aliko Dangote Foundation and SCIDaR, the Community Reorientation Women Network (CRoWN) is a women-led grassroots initiative that engages female supervisors within local communities to provide home-based counselling, referral support, and other essential health services, contributing to safer pregnancies, healthier children, and overall community wellbeing. This is what makes the initiative significant. It is rooted in connection. When care comes from familiar faces, it is more likely to be accepted, sustained, and impactful. SCIDaR is proud to support efforts like this, where local leadership drives meaningful change, and communities remain at the center of the solution.
