Understanding polycythemia vera (PV): Diagnosis, treatments and follow-up care - MPN conference 2025
Polycythemia vera (PV) is a type of myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN). This group of blood cancers features too many blood cells of a particular type made in the bone marrow. MPNs begin with one or more changes to the DNA of a single stem cell in the bone marrow. These changes cause the stem cell to create more and more abnormal stem cells. In this 1-hour live webcast, Dr. Sonia Cerquozzi, hematologist at the Tom Baker Cancer Center and Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, reviewed this type of MPN, diagnosis, treatment options and aspects of follow-up care.
