Medan, MISTAR.ID Fuel distribution in North Sumatra has been accelerated with the involvement of personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri). This measure was taken by the North Sumatra Provincial Government following disruptions to fuel distribution at several gas stations. North Sumatra Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution confirmed that fuel stocks are safe. The shortage is not due to a lack of supply, but rather to distribution disruptions due to a reduction in fuel truck drivers. Nasution made this statement after a coordination meeting on fuel distribution at the North Sumatra Governor's Office on Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro, Medan City, Thursday (July 16, 2026). Nasution emphasized that the provincial government is ready to provide full support to ensure that fuel distribution returns to normal quickly and does not disrupt community activities or the economy. However, he stated that the recruitment and dismissal of drivers are the company's internal responsibility. Nasution also expressed regret that the regional government did not receive earlier information about potential distribution disruptions, preventing anticipatory measures from being implemented more quickly. Nasution Meanwhile, the Head of the Operations Bureau of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Dwi Tunggal Jaladri, stated that 786 personnel have been deployed to secure 325 gas stations in North Sumatra on a 24-hour shift. He explained that the shortage of Load Transport Crew (AMT) occurred following layoffs. To address this situation, TNI and Polri personnel who have received training in driving Fuso trucks are being prepared to assist with fuel distribution.
