Lost Coatbridge Heritage | The Systamatic Disappearance of Gartsherrie Primary

In this special documentary, we track the final months of Gartsherrie Primary School in Coatbridge, Scotland. Once a proud "temple of learning" serving the families of the Gartsherrie Ironworks, this Category "C" listed Edwardian landmark fell victim to a tragic cycle of neglect, fire and eventually a demolition company. This video is structured in four parts, captured across four separate visits between 2024 and 2026: The Survivor (Feb 2024) – Exploring the 1906 sandstone masterpiece by architect James Davidson. Despite a hole in the roof, the structure remained a viable candidate for repurposing. The Breaking Point (June 2024) – Filmed just days after a devastating fire. We examine the remains and the missed opportunity for facade retention. The Erasure (June 2024) – The mechanical reality of demolition as the walls are torn down.
