This trail starts at the charming Ribeiro Frio. It follows the Levada da Serra do Faial until it reaches the Balcões viewpoint, where you can enjoy breathtaking views. On reaching the Balcões viewpoint, hikers will be greeted by a magnificent landscape, surrounded by the lush valleys of the Laurissilva Forest, an important area that is part of the Natura 2000 Network. This forest plays a crucial role in capturing water from the fog through the leaves of the plants, which then feeds the springs and streams. From this viewpoint, you can see the Fajã da Nogueira Hydroelectric Power Station, which uses the retained water to generate electricity and supply the entire municipality of Santana.
