She was Rachel's sister, with whom she had a dispute in the Bible over Jacob's love. Therefore, Leah's story became known in the biblical pages especially because of her marriage to Isaac's son. The Bible says that when Jacob went to live for a time in Haran, at the house of his uncle Laban, he ended up falling in love with one of his cousins, Rachel. Very interested in marrying her, Jacob made a seven-year agreement with Laban in exchange for the right to marry Rachel. The problem was that Laban deceived Jacob, and instead of giving him his daughter Rachel in marriage as agreed, he gave him Leah. Jacob only realized he had married Leah and not Rachel the morning after the wedding feast. So Jacob made a new agreement with Laban so that he could finally marry Rachel, whom he loved. And that is how Leah and Rachel became Jacob's wives. Leah's marriage to Jacob: The Bible says that while Jacob loved Rachel, he also despised Leah. Indeed, Leah suffered greatly because of Jacob's lack of love, affection, and attention. But the biblical text also says that God made Leah a very fertile woman, so that she became the mother of most of Jacob's children, who gave rise to the tribes that later constituted the nation of Israel. In fact, the tribes of Levi and Judah, known for their priesthood and royalty in Israel, were descendants of Leah. For all these reasons, Leah is remembered in biblical history as one of the builders of the house of Israel.
