-- English and Japanese subtitles are available. -- January 30th, 2022. Club "ageHa" closed the doors of its Shin-Kiba (Tokyo) building for one final time, ending a historic two-decade run. The venue first opened at the end of 2002, becoming Japan's largest multipurpose entertainment space as well as club brand. During daytime hours it went by the name of "Studio Coast" and featured a main room—appropriately called the "Arena"—with a capacity of 2,400. All floors together gave the facility a total capacity of 4,000+. More than a mere event space, ageHa was a hub for a diverse array of cultures, and an unparalleled medium for their expression. Support for the venue soared, and it quickly became a premier destination for countless top artists. The club was inarguably at the very forefront of Japan's dance music scene throughout the 2000s. Such a story deserves to be preserved and passed on. And ageHa Productions has joined forces with Moment Tokyo (now called "MMT"), a company which makes documentation of the music scene its mission, to do just that. With over a year of filming and production amidst a multitude of covid-based restrictions, the total footage amassed comes to 1,000+ hours. From this was distilled a documentary-style piece offering an in-depth look at the twenty-year long saga's final month. Join us in reliving the memories and emotions that compose the venue's storied story. What kept people coming here for a span of twenty years? And what did the floor look like after the final beat faded into silence? And most importantly—where do we go now?
