The ONE thing you need to do everyday even if only for five minutes to learn the Gypsy Jazz Repertoire is to only focus on ONE tune at a time. TIP: Learn LESS tunes but know them well. Don’t half learn 100 tunes but instead aim to master 10. In this example we look at the A section of ‘Anniversary Song’. Step 1: Learn the chords to the A section which are: E7/// E7/// E7/// E7/// Am/// Am/// Am/// A7/// Dm/// Dm/// Am/// Am/// E7/// E7/// Am/// Am/// Play this sequence OVER & OVER again until it starts to feel natural. Put on the metronome to 120bpm and play rhythm making sure to lock in with the beat There is no secret you just have to play it over and over again and it will stick! Step 2: Learn the notes to the melody out of time to get them under your fingers. Now put the metronome to 120BPM and play the melody in time over and over again until it feels natural.
