Javier Clemente Lázaro, known as "El Rubio de Baracaldo" (The Blond from Barakaldo), is a Spanish former footballer and manager. He was born on March 12, 1950, in Barakaldo, Biscay. He played as a midfielder for Athletic Club, but his career was cut short by an injury in 1969. As a manager, Clemente has coached several teams in Spain and abroad, including Athletic Club, with whom he won two La Liga titles and one Copa del Rey, and RCD Espanyol, with whom he reached the UEFA Cup final in the 1987–88 season. He also managed the Spanish national team between 1992 and 1998, leading them in two World Cups and one European Championship.
