We Counted 100 Alligators in the Everglades | This Got Wild
Mile 295 | Everglades National Park Our 10,000 mile road trip from Key West to Alaska continues in Everglades National Park! The park is located in southern Florida and is the third largest national park in the lower 48 - behind Death Valley and Yellowstone. The Everglades offer a diverse ecosystem, home to many different types of wildlife. While we were here we chose to go kayaking, hiking, and cycling! Our first stop was kayaking through Flamingo Adventures. The Everglades is the only ecosystem in the world where crocodiles and alligators coexist. If you want to see crocodiles, the best place to see them is Flamingo! The cost to rent a single kayak is $25 for two hours. They also offer tandem kayaks and longer rental options - even multi day! After looking for crocodiles in Flamingo, we head to Anhinga trail to look for alligators! The trail is 0.8 miles on flat, paved and boardwalk surfaces. We saw a lot of wildlife here - 15 alligators and many birds on this trail! On day 2 of our Everglades adventures we went to Robert is Here Fruit Stand to get smoothies and try a few exotic fruits! Then we drove to Shark Valley where we went on a 15 mile bike ride! The trail winds through the everglades with TONS of alligators. If you go here, you know you have to start a gator count! If you don’t have your own bikes, you can rent from the visitor’s center. You can also book a tram ticket to go on a tram ride along the 15 mile path. If you’re really adventurous, you can even walk the full 15 miles! The Shark Valley area is EXTREMELY busy and parking is limited. Expect delays when entering the park. We chose to park along the main road and ride our bikes in. Cost: 🛶Kayaking Cost - Varies depending on what you rent. A single kayak is $25 for 2 hours 🚲Bike Rental - $27 per day 🚃Tram Tour - $34 per adult 💰Entrance Fee - $35/vehicle entrance fee to Everglades National Park (free with America the Beautiful Pass) 00:00 Intro 00:54 Flamingo, FL (Kayaking) 3:26 Anhinga Trail 5:08 Robert is Here Fruit Stand 8:40 Shark Valley (Cycling) ______________________________ Important Links: Flamingo Adventures (Kayak Rental) https://flamingoeverglades.com/ Anhinga Trail https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/fl...
