The aim of the video series is to explain what the adaptive approach is in control systems, why it is important and how it is applied. Adaptive control is the ability of a system to maintain its performance by automatically adjusting its structure and parameters against changing conditions or disruptive effects. 🧠 What is Adaptive Control? Adaptive control is the ability of a system to change its internal behavior and structure according to new situations it encounters. This type of controller responds to environmental changes and disruptive inputs and continues to provide the desired output of the system. It has a feedback mechanism at its core and the system constantly adjusts itself with this feedback. 🔁 Difference Between Feedback and Adaptive Control The difference between traditional feedback control and adaptive control is emphasized. While feedback systems work with fixed parameters, adaptive control systems take into account variable parameters and reconfigure themselves according to these changes. 🔧 Parameter Tuning and Controller Structure How parameters are tuned in adaptive control systems is discussed. When the system encounters a disturbing input or its dynamics change, the controller changes its parameters accordingly. This change is necessary to maintain the performance of the system. 🔄 Linear Feedback and Robustness Linear feedback systems are introduced. These systems are designed to be robust against parameter changes within certain limits. The goal is to make the system insensitive to structural changes (robust). 📐 Transfer Functions and Sensitivity Analysis How transfer functions are obtained is shown step by step. Then, the sensitivity of the system to parameter changes is analyzed. How a closed-loop system responds when system parameters change is explained mathematically. 📊 Frequency Response and Bode Diagrams The behavior of the system in the frequency domain is examined with the help of Bode diagrams. How parameter changes affect the magnitude and phase response of the system is visualized. Frequency response is compared for open-loop and closed-loop systems. 💡 Performance Criteria and Adaptive Controller Adaptive controllers drive the system appropriately according to performance criteria in the time or frequency domain. As system parameters change, the controller adapts to these new conditions by changing its own structure. This ensures that the system maintains stability and desired response. References Tao, G.
