Madras (Chennai) 1981/82 - Public Talk 2 - Why have we become habituated to conflict? Summary: Why have human beings not solved the problem of conflict with each other and in themselves? When we do not accept what actually is but escape to an ideal, the opposite of ‘what is’, then conflict is inevitable. Non-violence is non-fact, not a reality but a projection of thought to escape, or to accept violence and pretend that we are becoming non-violent. Can you look at your wife or your husband without the memory of the past? It is possible to live without conflict. When you observe ‘what is’, there is no conflict. Goodness means to be holistic, to be whole, not fragmented. --- This channel is managed by the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust, UK, and by the Krishnamurti Foundation of America. The role of the foundations was described by Krishnamurti when he said, 'The foundations will see to it that these teachings are kept whole, are not distorted, are not made corrupt. They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person.' We maintain extensive archives of Krishnamurti's original works and all four Krishnamurti foundations are actively engaged in the publication of material in various forms. Our videos contain thousands of subtitles in more than 25 languages, translated by volunteers from all over the world.
