Every June, Tamagawa Asama Shrine holds its annual festival, where portable shrines from various neighborhood associations in the surrounding area enter the shrine grounds one after another. This year, too, from early afternoon, the portable shrines from each neighborhood association paraded through the shopping streets and residential areas of the town before proceeding to the shrine. The portable shrine of the Denenchofu Friendship Association was made in the early Showa period and has been used for every festival. Some of those carrying the shrine have been participating since childhood. The portable shrine passed under the railway tracks and arrived at the street lined with stalls in front of Tamagawa Station. Then, it ascended the steep slope towards the shrine on the hill.
