TVS Archives - Hands Across America - New Castle Pennsylvania

Hands Across America was a public fundraising event held on Sunday, May 25, 1986, Memorial Day weekend, which attempted to create a continuous human chain of people holding hands across the contiguous United States. Approximately 5.5 million people participated. In this historic 'Hands Across America' event, that if only for a moment, brought the country together, New Castle, Pennsylvania showed up big time. In addition to all of the locals, participants came from all around the country to take part. WKST radio station took the lead on organizing and promoting the local part of the event.
