I bought a cheap land cruiser from CRAIGSLIST

In this video, I rebuild the front axle on an 80 Series Toyota Land Cruiser after buying the cheapest Land Cruiser I could find on Craigslist. Leaking steering knuckle grease, failed inner axle seals, and a clicking birfield joint all pointed to a front axle that hadn’t been serviced in decades. A clicking noise when turning is a common sign of birfield joint failure in solid axle Land Cruisers. When axle seals fail, gear oil mixes with knuckle grease, causing internal components to run dry and eventually wear out. That’s exactly what was happening here. I’m not a mechanic just a guy trying to save money on his Land Cruiser front axle rebuild with no prior experience. This video documents the full teardown and reassembly process, including: • Steering knuckle removal • Hub and spindle disassembly • Inner axle seal replacement • Birfield joint inspection and repack • Bearing race removal and installation • Front axle reassembly to factory torque specs • 100-series brake pad upgrade During the rebuild, I discovered a worn axle shaft groove that would have caused the seals to fail again if ignored. To fix it correctly, I used a seal relocation solution and rebuilt both sides of the axle step by step.
