HENRY WINTER in his garden talking about gardening and football. The nations greatest passions!

Top football correspondent, Henry Winter talks to Bunny about football and his gardening and design background in his rolling Rutland garden. His mother was a garden designer who worked with Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe and John Brookes amongst others, and his father, John Winter, was a famous Architect. Both his brother, Tim (aka Abdal Hakim Murad) is Britain’s most influential Muslim and his sister, Martha Winter (an artist) are highly successful.  Henry is better with balls than mowers, he accidentally drove his ride on into the river, but he does enjoy axing wood! He has several mementos in the garden such as a bench salvaged from Lords cricket pitch, plus an avenue of topiary he is modelling on Alice in Wonderland. Henry explains the huge economic importance of football and how footballers can have a huge influence  on causes such as school dinners, autism, planting trees. Henry read English at Edinburgh and in his small class of around ten were two now eminent gardeners - Sarah Raven and Isobel Bannerman.
