How to make a simple, 3 ingredient, lard soap - a tutorial

Making soap for their family was a yearly responsibility for the mothers of by gone days. Soap making is a good thing to master no matter where you are in your homesteading journey. This simple, 3 ingredient formula is perfect for beginners. Find the recipe and equipment list below. *IMPORTANT!* Practice common sense safety precautions when handling lye! Children and pets should be kept at a safe distance during the process. Mix lye in a well ventilated area. Protect skin, clothing, and surfaces from possible contact with the lye as well. ~Equipment~ *Several stainless steel (never aluminum!) bowls or vessels large enough to contain the combined ingredients safely for mixing *Various size measuring cups *Silicone, wood, or stainless steel spoons and spatulas (no aluminum!) *Digital scale - very important for accuracy Thermometer for temperature of oils and lye mixture.
