SAM — Subway Assistance Messenger: Demonstration at Kennedy Station | June 10, 2026

This is a demonstration of SAM — Subway Assistance Messenger, a real-time safety tool that enables Transit Control dispatchers to issue live audio messages directly into subway stations and platforms in response to safety concerns, flagged either through rider reports on the SafeTTC App or through CCTV observations. On June 10, 2026, during a Press Conference, I demonstrated SAM live at Kennedy Station, marking the system-wide rollout of a technology that has been piloted at Kennedy since April 2026. TTC Interim Chief Operating Officer Fort Monaco simulates smoking a cigarette on the platform. I open the SafeTTC App, submit a report with an image, and Transit Control issues a live announcement directly over the station's PA system, showing exactly how SAM works in real time. SAM is now rolling out across the entire TTC network, extending the reach of Transit Control and keeping riders safer across one of the largest transit systems in North America.
