Sean Mahoney Walking with a Single-point Cane for the First Time
Here’s a video of Sean Mahoney walking with a single-point cane for the first time. "A lot of unseen work has gone into this. The single point came is far less stable than the quad-point cane, so it was necessary to increase wrist stability/grip as well as overall body strength and control. Definitely a work in progress, but I was impressed at my first attempt. People often don’t realize the effect of a cervical spinal cord injury, as it affects everything below your neck. So getting to this point requires activating and strengthening so many muscle groups you typically would never think about. But these exercises translate into increased function in everyday life, so don’t ever think your efforts are futile if you don’t achieve the end goal right away. Baby steps are still steps!" - Sean Mahoney
