We Found a Neglected Pony in a Poor Slum | Rescuing a Shetland Pony in Northern Portugal

In today’s adventure in rural Portugal, we rented a van and traveled north to Barcelos in Braga, to pick up a neglected pony living in a poor slum area. At first we believed he was a miniature pony, but once we arrived we realized he was actually a larger Shetland pony! The journey was long, rainy, and muddy, but after hours on the road we safely brought him home to central Portugal. It was a long, arduous day, but we’re grateful we could give him a better place to settle and recover. Now he’s starting to relax, explore his new surroundings, and adjust to life here. We’re excited to share this journey with you as we continue our rural life in Portugal, caring for animals, traveling, and exploring the countryside.
