The MG S5 EV LUX Is Priced To Sell But Can It Beat The eMas 7?

The MGS5 EV is more aggressive looking than the eMas 7. The eMas 7 is basically a rebadged Geely EX5 and is one of the best selling EVs in its class. The newly launched MGS5 EV intends to make a dent in the eMas 7's sales figures with its very competitive pricing. The MGS5 EV comes in 3 variants - Comfort (COM), COM Long Range and LUX Long Range. The Lux variant gets all the good stuff like 360 camera, electric boot, Elegant Latte colour and so on. When compared to the eMas 7, the MGS5 EV comes ready with AACP. The eMas 7 did not have that at launch. It should have AACP by July 2025, which is next month. The MGS5 EV also has slightly better range than the eMas 7 at 430 km on the COM Long Range variant. The eMas 7 does 410 km on a full charge. That said, rumour has it that Geely will launch an EX5 with a bigger battery and thus a longer range soon. Will that make its way to our shores? Like the eMas 7, the MGS5 has V2L but the eMas 7 has 1 thing extra - V2V. That means you can actually charge another vehicle. The MGS5 is smaller than the eMas 7 in all aspects. The eMas 7 also has way more storage space, though it does curiously lack a glove box. Both cars lack frunks. The eMas 7 is much quicker than the MGS5 - 6.9s vs 8s - 0-100 km/h. Seats are much more comfortable on the eMas 7 and it has a heck of a lot more speakers - 6 vs 16. In terms of ride and handling, this is where the MGS5 wins. One thing the MGS5 and other makes, except for Smart, lacks is the Live Charging Map app that is integrated with the eMas 7. For many who travel out of town, that could be the deal breaker. We don't think the MGS5 will out sell the eMas 7 but we think it's interesting enough to sell a healthy number of units. Otherwise, the MGS5 could tick the right boxes to be your next car.
