Sonido Berraco Bids Farewell to Gerardo Echavarria, also known as Perla Antillana Richard TV was present to respectfully bid farewell to Gerardo Echavarría, better known as Sonido Perla Antillana, one of the most representative figures of the sonidero movement in Mexico. Originally from Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, Gerardo Echavarría dedicated a large part of his life to the sonidero scene, sharing the stage and friendship with some of the movement's greatest exponents. His career left an important mark on the culture of sonidero dances, earning him recognition from generations of fans and colleagues. For many years, he was part of one of the most memorable groups within the movement: Los Cuatro Fantásticos (The Fantastic Four), which included renowned sound systems such as Sonido Perla Antillana, Sonido La Changa, Sonido Rolas, and Sonido Caibalí. Later, Sonido Casanova also joined, solidifying a historic era within the sonidero scene. In this video, we also hear the words of Ramón Rojo Villa, known as Sonido La Changa, who fondly remembers his great friend and colleague. We were also joined by Sonido Siboney for this final farewell to a legend of the movement. This video was made with great respect and admiration, remembering the legacy, friendship, and great work that Gerardo Echavarría left within the sound system movement. Today we say goodbye to one of the greats… but his music, his story, and his name will forever remain in the memory of the neighborhood and the sound system movement.
