Heavy Metal Death Can continues—and this submarine somehow keeps getting worse. In Part 2, I start by activating the reactor and immediately getting thrown into a boss fight with some absolutely incredible metal blasting in the background. After a rough first attempt, the second one goes much better. With power restored, previously locked areas finally open up. That leads me deeper into the submarine (how big can a submarine be, really?), where I encounter the mysterious Biologist, get into a major fight (cue metal music again), and find a local “T-virus” sample: bitumenoid. Why do I need it? Well, that’s for the endgame. I also discover a gas mask, which allows me to explore a toxic hallway filled with a new nightmare: the Bloater. These things are extremely easy to disable for a couple of seconds, almost impossible to kill, and they will annoy me a lot later. My next major objective becomes clear: help the Engineer repair and start the submarine engine. Oh, and there’s a dog. You can pet the dog. Instant Game of the Year. 11/10.
