What happens if the MAVIC PRO controller shuts down in Flight? |Return to Home Test DJI Mavic Pro|

What happens if you shut down or lose connection to DJI Mavic's controller in mid-flight? In this video, we go over Return to Home (RTH) feature of the DJI Mavic Pro and what happens if you turn a drone controller off in flight or your Mavic Pro loses connection with its controller. This is a quick test showing the capabilities and features of the Return to Home (RTH) feature that is integral to the Mavic Pro. As you will see, it worked flawlessly landing within 0.5m of the takeoff location. There is a selection in advanced RTH settings that ask what you would like the drone to do in case of lost connection. The setting mentioned is the action setting of lost connection. This can be found in the same menu as the RTH settings, just scroll down 'till you see the Advanced Settings tab and select it. In the Advanced Settings menu, there will be text asking what you would like the drone to do if the connection is lost. There will be a drop down menu and in that menu, there will be 3 selections, Return to home -- Landing -- Hover -- At this point choose what you would like the Mavic to do. I review altitude settings used as well as different modes in the DJIGo4 app and test the physical Return to Home button on the controller too. The obstacle avoidance system is activated in every Intelligent Flight Mode including all ActiveTrack modes, TapFly and Terrain Follow. It is also available during automatic Return to Home, so that the Mavic Pro can easily make its way back without bumping into anything in its path. An unprotected drone could hit obstacles during long distance flight or when descending from an inadequate height in Return to Home mode. The Mavic uses FlightAutonomy technology to sense obstacles up to 49ft (15m) away and allows the Mavic to bypass them or brake to hover, reducing accidents. I test what happens if controller losses connection to the Mavic Pro and I also turn the controller completely off mid-flight just to see what the drone will do. There are 3 ways to activate DJI Mavic Pro's Return to Home RTH feature. The first way is to activate RTH via Phone or Tablet App DJI Go4 App, select the H with an arrow and slide the slider to Return to Home. Second is to press the Return to Home button directly on the controller itself, this will active return to home and audible beeps will be heard. Third and most nerve wracking is lost connection to the Mavic Pro from the Controller ie.... Lost connection, dead battery on the controller, etc.... We test all 3 in this video.
