This medical animation shows the removal of a cloudy lens via Phacoemulsification (type of eye surgery), and the placement of an artificial lens. The basic anatomy of the eye and its ability to receive light is contrasted with the negative effects of a cataract lens. During a phacoemulsification, an ultrasound probe breaks the cloudy lens into tiny fragments. The fragments are vacuumed out through a tiny incision. An intraocular lens implant is then inserted to replace the natural lens that was removed. #CataractSurgery #ArtificialLens #IntraocularLens ANH11049
