In the Eastern Black Sea Region, tea producers have begun entering tea gardens for maintenance, pruning, and fertilizing ahead of the 2024 fresh tea season. Tea producers, eager to start the season productively, have begun by pruning their tea. For producers who wish to sell their tea to the Tea Enterprises Directorate (ÇAYKUR), affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, pruning is carried out on a certain portion of their tea farmland. Fertilization is applied immediately following the pruning phase. Once the pruning process is complete, all that remains is to harvest and sell the tea. Tea producers in Rize are eagerly awaiting the announced base tea price. Fatih Ferah stated that they expect the tea price to be announced at a reasonable level, saying, “The fertilizer price is around 16 TL. Where fertilizer is 16 TL, tea should be at least in the 20-22 TL range. That's our expectation. We don't know if the price will be sufficient, but we believe it will at least keep the tea stable.” Ayşe Kalça emphasized that the price of tea should be at least 20 TL, given the high cost of fertilizer required for tea and the high cost of labor to harvest it. She said, “We expect it to be 20 TL. It can't be less than 20 lira anyway. Fertilizer is expensive. Labor is expensive. Let them worry about the rest.” Bilhan Büyükyazıcı noted that the tea plants are sprouting, saying, “We've started applying fertilizer. Hopefully, we'll have a good season. If we compare last year's market conditions with this year's, it should be at least 25 TL. Tea shouldn't be priced below 20 lira. A price below 20 TL is a complete mockery of the producers.” #agrotv #rize #tea 🔔 AGRO TV TURKEY Facebook: https://bit.ly/3Wz5Jxm 🔔 AGRO TV TURKEY Instagram: https://bit.ly/3Wz66Ig 🔔 AGRO TV TURKEY Twitter: https://bit.ly/3jkZkrd 🔔 Website: https://www.agrotv.com.tr/ The World's Agricultural Screen 🌍 Agro TV
