In this complete shelter build, every raw material is harvested and shaped by hand. The foundation is carved straight out of the dense forest floor, followed by erecting a heavy timber skeleton locked together with custom-drilled wooden pegs. As the structure rises, thick mud is mixed and plastered over a woven bamboo roof and walls to seal out the mountain air. The process demands intense physical labor, from chopping and splitting logs to carving intricate circular window frames and weaving wooden doors.
