Webinar: Building Help Seeking Cultures for Children and Young People in Schools

This webinar explored how schools can build strong help‑seeking cultures to support the mental health and safety of children and young people. Recognising that help‑seeking is often shaped by stigma, past experiences, and trust in relationships, the session approached help‑seeking as a capability that can be intentionally developed through whole‑school, trauma‑informed practice. Participants gained insights into the barriers that can prevent young people from seeking support, as well as the conditions that enable safe, trusted pathways for disclosure. The webinar also highlighted practical strategies to strengthen connections between schools and external supports, including Kids Helpline@ School. Delivered in partnership with Kids Helpline @ School, the session featured Lisa Parsons, School Engagement Partner and experienced educator, who shared her expertise in student wellbeing, engagement, and creating inclusive, supportive environments.
