Toshihisa Nishi was traded from the Giants to the Yokohama BayStars in the offseason of 2006. Due to the return of manager Tatsunori Hara, who favored younger players and reduced playing opportunities, he volunteered for the trade, risking his career, and was traded in exchange for Masakuni Odajima (plus cash).
