We're traveling towards the longest beach in Nicaragua, specifically Jiquilillo. This beach is located 40 kilometers from the city of Chinandega in western Nicaragua. By car, you must reach the town of El Viejo and from there take the road to Potosí. There, you will find a sign indicating the start of the road that leads to Jiquilillo and Padre Ramos. You can travel here in a sedan (small car) or a 4x4. There are six kilometers of unpaved road, but it is accessible to any vehicle. The beaches of Jiquilillo and the Delta Estero Padre Ramos nature reserve are the most visited during the summer season. The rest of the year, however, it is a quiet and inviting beach, excellent for relaxing days. In the municipality of El Viejo, we have the famous seven beaches of our municipality, seven very beautiful beaches that vacationers can enjoy comfortably thanks to the good roads and access to each one. During holiday periods, especially Easter and New Year's, this beach fills up with visitors from all over western Nicaragua. With so many people, beach parties, beach sports events, and other entertainment activities are organized. Although it's part of the Estero Padre Ramos Natural Reserve, its inhabitants dedicate themselves to artisanal fishing. There are several ranches along the coast, where you can find traditional restaurants and rustic lodging for visitors. Recently, cabin hotels have also been built, which are very popular with foreigners. Here you can also enjoy other activities such as kayak tours, swimming, boat trips, horseback riding, and there are surf schools where you can also rent equipment if you want to try surfing. And if you've ever wondered, "What is the largest beach in Nicaragua?" Here it is… Jiquilillo Beach is the largest beach in Nicaragua. Its length is approximately 5.5 kilometers, making it the perfect place to accommodate the hundreds of tourists who flock to this beach during summer vacation. I'm sure many Nicaraguans and foreigners don't know about it, so here it is, and we invite you to visit this paradisiacal beach. Since Jiquilillo is a small and humble town, it doesn't have ATMs or other modern amenities. Therefore, bring enough cash to enjoy your trip without worry. How to get to Jiquilillo: By public transport, you must first go to Chinandega, and once there, take a bus to El Viejo. From there, take another bus to Jiquilillo, which departs from the bus terminal at the market. By private vehicle, the road is well-marked and will take you directly there. You can also use apps like Google Maps, which will take you there without getting lost. Recommendations: Dispose of your trash properly and do not enter the beach while intoxicated.
