84 Lifers in 48 Hours! Birding Far North Queensland & The Daintree Rainforest

The Daintree Rainforest is one of the oldest on Earth, and it’s full of surprises, from prehistoric birds to the world’s most venomous snakes. In this episode of Birding with Chris, we’re heading into the heart of Far North Queensland during the height of the wet season. We start on the Daintree River, where we come face-to-face with saltwater crocodiles and spot the elusive Papuan Frogmouth and Spotted Whistling-Ducks. Then, we cross the river into the jungle to track down the legendary Southern Cassowary. Between the flooded roads and 150 inches of annual rain, the conditions were intense, but they led to some incredible finds, including a Blue-winged Kookaburra and an encounter with a Taipan, one of the deadliest snakes on the planet.
