North Korean children march 400 km to honour Kim
Subscribe to our YouTube channel for free here: https://sc.mp/subscribe-youtube North Korean state media reports have documented a 400km (248-mile) journey made by elite pupils, some as young as age 11, along a route reportedly walked by the nation’s founding father Kim Il-sung in 1923. Kim is said to have been an 11-year-old when he set out from his school in what was then known as Manchuria – northeast China today – to walk back to his home in the village of Mangyongdae which now part of North Korea’s capital Pyongyang. Every year since 1975, selected students have recreated the journey as part of a two-week study programme.
